Many of the people we help have had good jobs requiring a high level of education and a degree of responsibility. Some have spent their working lives helping others such as former teachers, nurses, and social workers. Others are caring for people whose working life has been interrupted or who have retired through age or ill health.
We can help those whose jobs required education that equates to NVQ Level 4 and above. For those people who were around before these qualifications existed there is a wide range of occupations we have identified which generally required a degree of responsibility.
Own home - £4,000
Residential or nursing home - £10,000
Most beneficiaries are on means-tested benefits of some kind although each request is looked at individually. In cases where income is above our normal limits, a single gift may be appropriate. Where a household consists of more than one person, everyone's finances must be taken into account.
Regular beneficiaries of Elizabeth Finn Care who live in their own home and who are on means-tested benefits receive a regular package consisting of:

A grant towards care home fees not covered by benefits, to a maximum of £50 per week, in nursing or residential care homes. This does not apply to care homes run by other charities and not when fees are excessive.
All beneficiaries receive a gift for their birthday and at Christmas.
The maximum level of grants and allowances is subject to ongoing review by the Elizabeth Finn Care Trustees.
Often Elizabeth Finn Care will share a package of assistance with one or more sister charities, particularly when contributions from several funds are required to meet nursing or residential home fees.
Applicants are encouraged to approach other charities if they do not come within the our terms of reference.

Please take care to answer all the questions. Make sure you fill in the occupations of your partner, whether or not they are retired, deceased or you are divorced or separated.
2. If we think we may be able to help, we will send a more detailed application form. This will ask you for further information about your finances, background and current circumstances.
3. Once we have all the information we need, we may arrange for one of our Authorised Visitors to come and see you. It's a good opportunity for us to get to know you and for you to ask any questions.
4. Each person's situation is reviewed carefully. Once a decision has been made, we will let you know as soon as we possibly can.
5. The process usually takes around six weeks.
