Wrap up against poverty

Wrap Up Against Poverty... is all wrapped up!

The 2012 Wrap Up Against Poverty campaign has now come to an end. We would like to say a huge thank you to all of the celebrities and designers who kindly donated some of their best winter clothing and accessories to our eBay auction - and to everyone who bid and supported us.

We are delighted that the campaign has been an even bigger success than last year, and all of the money raised will be able to help more people in financial need in the UK.

Although the auction has now closed, it’s not too late to make a difference. You can donate directly by texting WUAP12 followed by a space and donation amount to 70070 e.g. “WUAP12 £5”. Or take a look at other ways you can support us.

Turning up the heat on UK poverty

Imagine being forced to choose between buying food to feed your family and putting the heating on when winter arrives. It’s sadly a dilemma faced by many people in financial need in the UK.

Around 13.5 million people, including 3.8 million children, are currently living below the poverty line in Britain today. Every winter, we receive many requests for direct support from people in financial need, with over half of these individuals telling us that they struggle to afford winter clothes to keep themselves and their families warm.

We launched our Wrap Up Against Poverty campaign to raise awareness of UK poverty and fundraise to help us support more people in financial need struggling with everyday costs such as warm clothing during the winter months.  Everyone who bid on the celebrity and designer items that went under the hammer has helped us to turn up the heat on poverty in the UK.

If you would like to find out more about the campaign, please take a look at our Wrap Up Against Poverty video, kindly narrated by Angela Rippon:
