Richard Down
Chairman of the Board of Trustees

Richard Down

Richard Down has held Senior Management appointments in a range of British and international public and private sector projects, since the early 1980s. Between 1992 and 2005 he acted as an Advisor to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and played a leading role in coordination of the G7/8 Summits and EU Presidency meetings. In this role he was credited with pioneering private sector corporate partnerships with major UK government events. Mr Down is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and, as well as being Chairman of the Elizabeth Finn Care Board of Trustees, holds the post of Chairman of our Investment Committee.


Michael Pavia 
Honorary Treasurer


Michael Pavia is Chairman of the Pension Trustees of Elizabeth Finn Care.  He is a Non-Executive Director of Thames Water Utilities Ltd, Salamander Energy Plc and Telecom Plus Plc. He is a member of the Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, where he is also chairman of the audit committee.


 
Matt Baker



Matt Baker is a specialist communications professional with broad experience of media relations, public affairs and high profile crisis management in broadcasting and the charity sector. He is currently Acting Head of Media for British-based aid and development agency, Oxfam, and was formerly Controller of Press & Publicity for Channel 4 Television.

 


Bill Colvin



Bill Colvin became a Trustee of Elizabeth Finn Care in September 2009.  An accountant by background, he has extensive experience in the Care Home Sector and was non-Executive Chairman and CEO of Southern Cross Healthcare plc until 2008.  Previously, Mr Colvin was Chief Executive of NHP plc and Group Finance Director of British Borneo Oil & Gas plc, amongst other earlier high profile appointments.


Mark Guymer


Mark Guymer is a skilled digital media professional with over 15 years experience within global internet and retail companies. Mr Guymer is Head of Partnerships, Shopping, Vouchers and Mobile for moneysupermarket.com, a FTSE 250 market leading online comparison service, where he has successfully grown revenue, visitors and market share as well as leading and launching the Mobile strategy. He played a key role in bringing an internet start-up to profitability, a company later acquired by eBay for over $600 million.



Richard Halcrow



Richard Halcrow is Chairman of the Remuneration Committee of Elizabeth Finn Care and the Nominations Committee. Mr Halcrow is a Director for Westhall Capital, a specialist Investment Bank, and has served on various Boards and Advisory Committees including British Invisibles, London Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Credits for Exports Plc. He was a member of the senior board of Morgan Grenfell and Deutsche Bank, and a partner is Caspian Securities. Mr Halcrow is a registered FSA.




Catherine Hamp

 

Catherine is a career civil servant. Having worked in public service all her life she has extensive experience in planning, delivering and managing public policy across a range of government departments.  Currently, Catherine is Head of Working Age Benefits at the Department of Work and Pensions where she is responsible for advising Ministers on a wide range of benefit policy issues and liaising with external bodies on disability and poverty issues. She has also led significant change programmes including that to establish the Pensions Regulator and the Child Maintenance and Enforcement Commission.




Dr Michael Harding



Michael Harding is a full time family practitioner and visiting Medical Officer at King Edward VII Hospital for Officers.  As well as sitting on the Elizabeth Finn Care Board of Trustees, he is also a Trustee of two medical grant-giving charities: Sir Siegmund Warburg’s Voluntary Settlement and the F H Muirhead Charitable Trust.



Bryan Laxton



Bryan Laxton is CEO of Cushman & Wakefield’s UK operations, a member of the EMEA Board, chairman of their UK Capital Markets Group and Director of Cushman & Wakefield Finance Ltd. Throughout his career, Mr Laxton has specialised in financial and strategic advice in the real estate industry. He is a trustee of the Reading Real Estate Foundation and member of the Henley Business School Strategy Board, Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and Urban Land Institute. Mr Laxton is authorised by the FSA.
 


Christine Lenihan

 

Christine is a Trustee of the Lloyds TSB Foundation for Scotland, was appointed Chairman in 2009 and has a wealth of experience gained over 30 years in business and commerce, as a senior executive, business founder and advisor. In other sectors as a Non Executive, a University Governor, Chairman of Learn Direct Scotland, Chairman of NHS 24 and Chairman of the NHS Confederation in Scotland, Christine’s breadth of experience, from micro business start ups and corporate life to the highest level public service and charity roles, provide her with an unusually wide range of expertise.



Jeremy Nettle



Jeremy Nettle became a Trustee of Elizabeth Finn Care in 2009. He has 25 years of experience in healthcare in the NHS and Scandinavia - including 15 years in clinical information technology. He is currently a Director for Oracle Corporation Healthcare UK Ltd. Mr Nettle has served the community as the 744th Mayor of New Sarum and his appeal supported the 1st Trussell Trust Food bank centre in Salisbury, which is now operating and feeding families in crisis in over 25 UK towns and cities.

 



Sally O’Sullivan



Sally O’Sullivan joined the Board of Trustees in March 2010.  She has had extensive experience as a non-Executive Director in broadcasting, utilities, education and ethics. Ms O’Sullivan was formerly Editor in Chief of Ideal Home, Good Housekeeping, Homes & Gardens and other leading UK magazines.  She has been Founder and Chair of August Media since 2005.




Fred Payne



Following a career of over thirty years in Banking, Mr. Payne has been Chief Executive of the Bank Workers Charity since January 2003. BWC delivers a broad range of support and advice services in partnership with national brand charities targeted on money, housing and well being for families and retirees. He became a Trustee of Elizabeth Finn Care in 2009, having already been a Board Director of Turn2us.



Francesca Quint




Francesca Quint is a senior member of the Chancery Bar, specialising in charity law, Wills and Trusts. Mrs Quint has written model governing documents for the Charity Law Association. She also edits and co-edits notable charity works including the Charities volume of Butterworth's Encyclopaedia and Sweet & Maxwell's 'Charities: the Law & Practice'. She became a Trustee of Elizabeth Finn Care in 1994 and was appointed Chairman of Elizabeth Finn Homes Limited in 2009.
