Even though I’ve got a treadmill at home, I love running outside. It’s really therapeutic after a hard day at work to get out into the fresh air.
Running the Marathon for Elizabeth Finn Care has given me the opportunity to do something I’ve always wanted to do. I’ve run for Elizabeth Finn Care twice now, and have really enjoyed the feeling of getting involved with the charity’s work. A lot more people than you might think are living below the poverty line. It’s a real shame and they need more help. Luckily, Elizabeth Finn Care is there to support them.
My training’s going well and I’m building up gradually so the final distance won’t be too much of a shock! I’m running with a friend who also has a Marathon place with Elizabeth Finn Care – we’re planning on doing 20 miles this weekend. It can be difficult to fit training in around a wife, 4 kids and the demands of running my own business. There are times when my body just doesn’t want to be out running. But Marathons take dedication and you have to put the hard work in to get the rewards.
I took a slightly different approach to my fundraising and organised a 70s night. 95 people attended and together we raised around £1500 for Elizabeth Finn Care. It was a fantastic night.
On the day, I’ll have support from my wife. It’s actually our wedding anniversary on the day of the run!
