Marathon Runner Cheryl Wiltshire

Cheryl is 35, a restaurant Manager from Bristol

I love running and really wanted to push myself – what better way to do that than sign up for the London Marathon! I wanted to run for Elizabeth Finn Care because it’s a bit different – not your usual big charity that everyone knows about. Plus Elizabeth Finn Care helps such a wide range of people. I think that’s a really good thing.

My training’s going really well and I have some great people to run with. I’m running about 40 miles a week at the moment, spurred on by my sister Charlotte or my fantastic friends Deb and Kelly who train with me. It can be a bit of a challenge dragging myself out of bed for those long Sunday morning runs, but I’m enjoying everything about being part of Team EFC, everyone at Elizabeth Finn Care’s been really friendly.

To make sure I meet my fundraising target, I’m talking to my work colleagues and friends to convince them to sponsor my efforts. I’ve also held cake sales to help raise the money – the perfect way to get to those with a sweet tooth!

On the day I’m hoping to beat my target time of 4 hours and 20 minutes. My husband and kids, as well as Mum and Dad, will be there to give me the vocal encouragement we all need to keep going – pop on down to support us yourself if you can, I know we’d all appreciate it.
