Lionel invites the public to celebrate 60 years in showbiz at star-studded lunch
Immediate Release: 6 May 2009
Elaine Paige, June Whitfield and Christopher Biggins are just a few of the stars helping to celebrate Lionel Blair’s 60 years in show business at a special lunch to be held at the Dorchester on Sunday 31st May. The event is also open to the public; tickets cost £85 and all profits will go to anti-poverty charity, Elizabeth Finn Care.
Dazzling audiences for six decades, the actor come dancer, known to a generation for starring on hit TV shows Give Us A Clue and Name That Tune, said: ‘The last 60 years have flown by. Do you know it feels like six minutes rather than 60 years.’
‘I am so excited about this lunch, not least because it gives my fans a chance to celebrate with me. None of the last 60 years would have been possible without them.’
Blair, who began entertaining audiences in London Underground stations during the Blitz, continued: ‘This is also a chance to support Elizabeth Finn Care, which helps people who have fallen on hard times. With everything that’s gone on recently, their work is more important than ever.’
The celebrity guest list also includes Roy Hudd, Sue Pollard, Una Stubbs, as well as many more. The event is due to kick off with a Champagne reception at 12.30pm, followed by lunch at 1pm and end with entertainment, an auction and a raffle.
