Jeff and Judy say 'allo 'allo to Buxton
Immediate Release: 23 February 2009

Stars of stage and screen Jeffrey Holland and Judy Buxton will be bringing the stage version of the TV cult comedy classic ‘Allo ‘Allo to the Buxton Opera House from Tuesday 3rd to Saturday 7th March, and are using their trip to urge local residents to join them in supporting Elizabeth Finn Care’s Big Tea Cosy during May (May 4 – 10).

Elizabeth Finn Care is an independent charity that assists people who have contributed to society and now need help themselves. The aim of the Big Tea Cosy is to raise funds to combat the loneliness and isolation brought about by poverty. The concept is simple and inexpensive: invite a group of friends to your house for a cup of tea (or coffee) in return for a small fee, which will go towards helping Elizabeth Finn Care beneficiaries.

In the current economic climate, the work that Elizabeth Finn Care does is more important than ever. Last year, Elizabeth Finn Care saw a 250 percent rise in applications for help, with numbers expecting to rise even more in 2009. Last year, Elizabeth Finn Care supported 46 beneficiaries in Derbyshire, with grants of over £2,000 pounds.

The ‘Allo ‘Allo stage show – which opened to rave reviews last year – features Jeffrey and Judy as Rene and Michelle of the Resistance and original cast member Vicki Michelle reprising her role as Yvette.

Jeffrey Holland, most famous for his portrayal of Spike Dixon in Hi-de-Hi, said: “’Allo ‘Allo and Hi-di-Hi Campers! Rise and shine! The ‘Big Tea Cosy’ is a simple and fun way for people in Buxton to make a real difference to those around us most in need of our help. Please do what you can to help Elizabeth Finn Care help others.”
