Elizabeth Finn Care Accredited with Investing in Volunteers Award
IMMEDIATE RELEASE: 12 May 2009

Grant-giving charity, Elizabeth Finn Care has been accredited with the ‘Investing in Volunteers’ endorsement from national volunteering agency, Volunteering England.

Elizabeth Finn Care was presented with the prize in recognition of a review that was undertaken in February of its team of 300 nationwide Volunteer Visitors, in order to assess how volunteers were supported.

Elizabeth Finn Care has recognised the vital role that volunteers can play in any charitable operation and, as part of an ongoing commitment to volunteer development, a new Volunteer Case Consultant programme was built to provide improved support for those who apply for assistance. This initiative is due to be launched this summer.

Under the new programme, these new volunteers – now called Volunteer Case Consultants - Elizabeth Finn Care will be able to provide a quicker and more comprehensive service to the people it helps.

The Volunteer Case Consultant will be able to assess whether new applicants are receiving the right level of support from the State, as well as providing assistance with filling out forms and completing paperwork. The Consultant will also be better placed to refer applicants to other charities or local support services, ensuring that new applicants to Elizabeth Finn Care receive the help they need much quicker.

Bryan Clover, Director of Casework said: “This award is important to us because it recognises good practice in an organisation’s volunteering management. It also demonstrates to potential and current supporters of Elizabeth Finn Care that their support is well utilized.

What also came out of the review was the high level of commitment our Volunteer Visitors have to Elizabeth Finn Care, as demonstrated by the length of service of some of the Volunteers we spoke to.”
