Gift aid
The Government’s Gift Aid scheme increases the value of the donation that you make to Elizabeth Finn Care - at no extra cost to you - by allowing us to reclaim basic rate tax on your gift.

Basic rate tax is 20 percent. Therefore, if you donate £10 with Gift Aid, the Inland Revenue will add £2.50 in Gift Aid, which means that Elizabeth Finn Care will receive a total of £12.50.

For donations between 6 April 2008 and 5 April 2011, Elizabeth Finn Care will also get a separate Government supplement of 3p on every pound you give.

To qualify, you must pay this amount or more in tax each year.

Who is eligible?

To be eligible for Gift Aid, you must be a UK taxpayer. If you are retired, you may still pay tax on your pensions and savings, and therefore be eligible for the Gift Aid scheme.

You should be paying Income Tax, or Capital Gains Tax, equal to the amount Elizabeth Finn Care can reclaim on your donations in any particular year.

How do I give Gift Aid?

You can make a Gift Aid declaration by calling the Fundraising Team on 0208 834 9253, or by downloading a Gift Aid Declaration Form and sending the completed form to us:

Elizabeth Finn Care
Hythe House
200 Shepherds Bush Road
LONDON
W6 7NL

Once we receive the declaration, we will be able to reclaim the tax that you have paid on your donations during the last six tax years.

Giving to Elizabeth Finn Care through your Self Assessment tax return

If you complete a Self Assessment tax return and are entitled to a tax refund, you can choose to have all or part of the repayment sent directly to us - this is called ‘Self Assessment Giving’ or ‘SA Donate’.

You can also ask that the repayment is made as a Gift Aid donation. HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) sends your refund (plus any Gift Aid tax repayment) directly to us by electronic transfer.

If you’re a higher rate taxpayer

If you’re a higher rate tax payer, you can claim additional Income Tax relief on any Gift Aid donations you’ve made during the tax year, as well as on any gifts of land or shares. If you want us to benefit from your tax relief (as well as from receiving your gift) you can use Self Assessment Giving to pass on the repayment to Elizabeth Finn Care.

To use Self Assessment Giving you need to enter our  unique reference code which is ‘SAN83VG’ in the space provided on the ‘Giving your tax repayment to charity’ form that comes with your tax return.
