Elizabeth Finn Care in Ireland

I’m based in Belfast, but work across both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland to promote the work of Elizabeth Finn Care, making sure that people in financial need and organisations that support them know how we can help them.

Working with groups and organisations across Ireland
I am involved in discussions and consultations around partnership and service development with established players in the Third Sector. I also deliver training for intermediaries (advice givers, support workers etc) in Northern Ireland on making the best use of the support services available through Turn2us.

Service delivery for grant applicants
As part of my role I visit people receiving financial support from Elizabeth Finn Care and prepare reports on their situations for the Grants team. This gives me a first hand understanding of the problems and concerns of the people applying to us for help.  It can be a very humbling and moving experience visiting applicants who are in desperate need of our assistance.  It gives me a tremendous sense of satisfaction when we are able to give direct financial assistance to people in need.

Volunteer recruitment and training
Our Volunteer Case Consultant initiative is a particularly exciting project,  focused on recruiting volunteers who will support new applicants who need that little bit more help, for example, with filling in forms, or by checking their benefits entitlements on Turn2us.

Visit our volunteer pages to find out more about this rewarding role and how you can get involved

Press and media
The Elizabeth Finn Care Press and PR team is investing resources to train each National Officer to lead on press and media opportunities across the Nations which brings an exciting development for the National Officer role.

Income Generation
My role as National Officer is to look out for income generation ideas, whether it is a community level fundraising opportunity to let people know we are in the area and raise some money for local support; or a larger scale application to a local Trust or Funder with particular areas of interest that we may be able to help with.

Please visit our fundraising ideas page for more about how to help us

Recent highlights of our work in Ireland:
