Chris Martin post Marathon interview

On Sunday 17 April, seven men and women took on the challenge of the London Marathon in aid of Elizabeth Finn Care. One of them was none other than our own Chris Martin, New Media Manager for Turn2us. He not only ran the full 26.2 miles to raise money for Elizabeth Finn Care, but came straight back in to work the following day – what a trooper! We managed to get him to relive the pain long enough to tell us how it went:

‘Well, I finished. To give you a sense of my time, I had run about six miles when Emmanuel Mutai finished the whole thing. The best bit was definitely going over Tower Bridge, with the amazing view of London and off the scale crowd noise.

On the other hand, the hardest part was probably the last five miles - it felt like it was never going to end. I was fuelled by Lucozade and Haribo for the most part!’

Chris raised a fantastic £1,221.44 plus £256.23 in Gift Aid for Elizabeth Finn Care – something we are all very grateful for. The big question is, would he do it again?

‘I’m not sure. A half marathon is a nice, challenging distance but 26 miles is a very, very long way and probably best handled in a taxi.’

Well done Chris, from all your colleagues at Elizabeth Finn Care!
